Short History of the Church.
The St. George Parish, with Adansi Fomena as the main station, was carved out of the then St. Thomas Parish, now Cathedral Parish at Obuasi, in the year 1979. the Parish began with about fifty-eight other stations. Very Rev. Fr. Francis Valentine, SMA, was assigned as the first priest. The following parishes and rectorates were offshoots of the Parish: St. John the Baptist, New edubiase; St. Aloysius, Fereso; St. Louis Rectorate, Bodwesango, St. Peter, Fumso, and St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate, Brofoyedru. Currently, the Parish serves eleven stations. Two of the stations, Kusa and New Ayaase are at nursing stages. The Parish is privileged to host the Benito Menni Hospital at Dompoase which is established and managed by the Benito Sisters (Hospitallers).
