Short History of the Church
St. Louis Rectorate was carved out of the St. Aloysius parish, Adansi Fereso, on 2nd August, 2009, with Re. Fr. Charles Asamoah (now laicized) as its first Rector and Nana Adu Ampoti Dwaa II as the first president until his death on November, 2011. The Rectorate comprises four stations, namely, Bodwesango, Pipiiso, Aboabo No.2, and Appiah Nkwanta. The first catechist of the Rectorate was the late Master hackman. Although Bodwesango rectorate is quite young in terms of its creation and its autonomy, it holds the enviable pride of its third rector who was chosen as the third bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Obuasi, in the person of Most Rev. John Yaw Afoakwah, the third successive Rector. Since the completion of the current church building in 2019, St. Louis Church, Bodwesango, has one of the finest sanctuaries in the Diocese. The St. Louis Church is also blessed with a solemnly decorated Adoration chapel. During the dedication of the Church, Bishop John Yaw Afoakwah described the current Church building as a “Basilica in the bush”. Other priests who have served the Rectorate very well include Rev. Fr. Frederick Assuming (2010-2012), Rev. Fr. Martin Atta Denchira (2014-2015), Rev. Fr. Eric Frimpong (2015 to 2020) and currently under stewardship of one of the hardworking priests in diocese, Rev. Fr. Francis Agyei Boshen (2020 till date).
